G33k P0p’s Anticipated Games of 2016

We’re over a month into 2016 now but most of this year’s great games are still to come, today I’m taking a look at G33k P0p’s most anticipated games of 2016. (In no particular order!)

Street Fighter V – The latest addition in Capcom’s long running Street Fighter Series, Street Fighter V is set for a UK release in just a few days on the 16th of February, it looks amazing, this time with more toned down visuals than previous games. There’s all our favourite characters such as Ryu and Chun Li, but there are also some old faces making a comeback.

The Last Guardian – Releasing later this year, The Last Guardian is a puzzle game from Team Ico, a company known for their work on games like Shadow of the Colossus. The game appears to have some incredible graphics and an intriguing storyline, but it will be a PS4-exclusive release.

Doom – Previously called Doom 4, this reboot of id Software’s old FPS classic was revealed a while back and looks like the next generation of the franchise. Releasing for PS4, PC and Xbox One, this FPS epic has many fans on the edge of their seats, as Doom 3, the last game, was released 12 years ago now, it’s time for a follow up.

Mirrors Edge: Catalyst – This open-world action game is one that stands out, with the main focus being swift parkour around an urban environment, the previous game appealed to many fans, and this one appears to be doing the same with amazing graphics and gameplay.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – What could be the final part of the Uncharted series, this game brings the franchise into the Next-Generation. It takes place 3 years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception and looks to finally end the story of Nathan Drake. It’s set to release in Spring 2016 and will be featured on PS4 only.

Dead Island 2 – This follow up to the 2011 game Dead Island will improve massively on many aspects of the game, taking place in many locations across the American West-Coast, being set in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The game is set for a release on PS4, PC and Xbox One.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam– This fun 3DS-exclusive title is a crossover between Nintendo’s famous Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series of games. Bringing back a style of game that many long-time fans will remember, it looks like a success already.
